Cheers.Oily skin........need help any tips???!?
Everyone says ';wash X times a day and just cope with it.'; Epic fail. Who has time at school or work to be washing one's face all the time? Anyway, usually 20 minutes later your face explodes with even more oil in retaliation. So...

1) Wash your face FIRST THING when you get up. With eyes *tightly* shut, splash your entire face/neck with nice cheap 3% peroxide from the store. Count to about 30 and then RINSE IT OFF! Now PAT your face dry or just let it air dry. If you're in the shower for this, do it last, after any shampooing etc.

If you are like me, in about 20-30 minutes *some* of your face (nose, etc.) will be slimy greasy but other places on your skin are not.

2) Gently spread that natural balanced just for you oil around your skin, going from the oily places to the dry ones. This saves you from the cycle of your skin going ';wait I have no oil...must make more!'; that just greases you up later that day. This also lets you skip expensive moisturizers that you really don't need (hello? too much oil already?) and that might have fragrances or something else in them that could just irritate your skin. It sounds icky, but all those people with beautiful skin have that same oil in it - just their faces distribute it evenly and don't make too much here and too little there. Spend some time massaging the areas that usually are NOT greasy, those spots could use some love.

3) Grab oil-blot tissues and securely press them to your face to suck up any serious extra. Now your face *should* be about evenly coated, as if you'd had ';normal'; skin and just put on a light moisturizer.

4) Take a cotton ball or even a soft cloth and *very gently* wipe down your entire face/neck with a balanced *acidic* toner. I'm terribly cheap, so I just use a teaspoon of apple-cider vinegar in 8oz of water, but there's tons of stuff on the market, pick the $5.00/bottle method of your choice ;) - Make sure it's slightly acidic - NOT slightly alkaline (ie. not full of alcohol).

5) Do whatever you want in the way of makeup. I usually don't bother with foundation, and just use powder before applying blush/eye stuff/etc. Again if you're going for the ';I can only afford ramen'; college diet - corn starch works in a pinch on lighter complexions, cocoa or a mix of the two for darker.

Now...you washed your face in step 1 (making it way too alkaline) and we treated that by a brief acid bath. You moisturized your face with whatever you own skin was pumping out, but if your skin was really balanced well you'd not have as many oily issues. So we topped that off in #4 with another very light acid rundown to kill whatever bacteria landed on your face from the air in the 20 minutes you let it dry and build oil. Then we covered it in bits of expensive colored dirt (makeup) and went on our merry way.
Buy one that is made for oily skin. I would avoid using a harsh face wash as you don't want to strip the skin even if you are too oily. I would try a good alcohol free toner after you wash. If you still want to moisturize make sure it's one made for oily skin.

the ';Cosmetic Cop'; recommends using a thin layer of Milk of Magnesia on seriously oily areas and a lose powder foundation (I would personally try a mineral foundation).
Try buying Acne Free, it's a really good routine to diminish oils on the face. The kit I bought had a face wash, toner, %26amp; lotion. It dried up my skin TOO much, but I didn't have an oily face to begin with, so maybe it will work for you.

An alternative could be washing your face with your shampoo, and following it up with clean %26amp; clear acne control facial lotion. This would be a cheaper alternative.

If you start to get little bumps all over your face (or already have some) use a face cloth and SCRUB them all off...it works really well.

GOOD LUCK!
Wash your face twice a day with a cleanser that has salicylic acid (not benzoyl peroxide!) in it. After you cleanse, follow it up with an oil free moisturizer. Don't wash our face any more often than that, it will confuse the skin and cause it to produce even more oil, using a moisturizer should help keep the skin into going into overdrive like that also.

that should help a lot, but if you're still having issues with the oil then get some of those blotting papers too.
What kind of skin care routine do you have right now?

That should be the first question you answer.

Did you know that even if you clean your skin twice daily, if you forget to moisture (EVEN if you have oily skin) then you are prone to more breakouts %26amp; even more extreme oily skin.

What happens is when you you use an astringent or a toner you are removing the excess/bad oils from your skin. If you don't replace those oils with GOOD oils from a moisturizer your skin goes into overdrive trying to make up the oil that you take out and a lot of the time overproduces.

Try a good 3 step system like the one Clinique carries.

There is a test that you take which determines which #s you should use. See the website and you'll understand:

It has worked wonders for me (I have oily skin too).

Good luck.
If your a teenager you most probably will get oily skin. The best thing to do is put moisturiser on in the morning before your foundation if you use any (try an oil free) then finish off with a powder that will set your foundation, also an oil free which will help control the shine! Hope this helped xx
